PeeWee’s Word of the Day: Cheaper

Friday, January 29th, 2010

So, I’m a little behind on my reading–”I know you are but what am I????”   If you missed it, Details Magazine put out an article hailing the renewed PeeWee Herman coming back into the limelight. As much as you might be excited about big bike adventures, mini-weenies, words of the day, and a talking globe (talking everything, I guess), I was taken aback by PeeWee’s attire in the photoshoot. He ditched the gray suit and is going for something a little more suave, but just as fun. Even though he’s a more grown up, I hope he still makes his breakfast the same way everyday. Here’s PeeWee’s look at much more affordable prices:

Haggar Navy Suit $260

Gant Easyfit Pinpoint Gingham $44.19 (On Sale from $144!)

PVH 80-20 Plaid Silk Tie $28

So you don’t like all the girly-man cardigans LKc’s been posting cause you’re such a bad boy?? Fine. But know there is something out there for you too…you don’t just have to shop at the Harley store any more. And secondly, it’s not always true that all girls go for the bad boys, but you’re probably doing alright in that department, so I’ll just give you some clothes and leave the dating advice to Fonzi.

Dress to Meet the Parents

Monday, January 18th, 2010

So, you have been dating So-and-So for a while now and whether you want to or not, she’s requested you meet her parents for a little “get-together.” So-and-So’s parents are probably nice enough but will still be judging you with hawk eyes. A few tips to meet Mr. & Mrs. So-and-So:
1. Don’t try too hard–unless you’re going to a formal dinner, a tie and/or suit in this situation might make you look stuffy. Leave the formalities at home.
2. Don’t look like the slob So-and-So met drunkenly at the bar last Saturday night–more than a t-shirt is required for this event. Don’t fret, you can still be comfortable.
3. Have a good handshake ready. Think Budwiser: not too heavy, not too light.

Gap Striped Thermal T $22.50

Gap Classic Ribbed Scarf $19.50

Lloyd Moto Jacket only $34.98!!

Boxers or Briefs?

Thursday, January 14th, 2010

We all have our different underwear needs…some ladies needs apparently include having underwear purposefully fitted to go up their butt. Luckily, you are guys and (most of) you don’t have to worry about thongs…

There is though, and perhaps will always be, the question of boxers or briefs. There is not a right answer to this and is different for everyone. But you should consider a few factors before making boxer or brief purchases:
1. What will you be wearing over your underwear? If you’re wearing tighter fitting pants, you should think about closer fit boxers or briefs. You don’t want boxers to bunch and twist.
2. Will you be moving around or walking a lot? We all hate to think about it, and I’m blushing, but chafing is the worst. Consider briefs (and potentially some body glide for LOTS of movement) for these situations.
3. Will you be taking you pants off? Who’s going to see your undies?? Is it a girl or your doctor; I bet you’ll change depending on the answer.
4. Do you want solid or patterns? A more conservative man might wear solids only, but since they’re usually hidden, you can get away with a little fun underneath (unless your hot boss has x-ray vision glasses that sometimes see bones and sometimes see clothes).

I tend to like a lot of underwear from GAP,as far as fit, style and affordability, and have heard good reviews (all $12.50-14.50; click on the images to purchase):

Don’t forget to ALWAYS wash your underwear on the first wear…no cheating. This will prevent lots of things too gross to mention here, so just do it.

ReStyle: Layers in LA

Monday, January 11th, 2010

An LKc friend from LA was in town for New Years. We had a little fun doing a mini-restyle at the GAP during the ridiculous after-holiday sales. Living in LA in the winter also means versatile layers…mostly with light coats! LKc can be hired hourly if you’re also looking for a quick restyle like this one–go to www.lkcstyle.com!!

(Check out the cool patterns working together here)

Up In The Air: Clooney’s Tie

Friday, January 8th, 2010

First, go see the movie Up In The Air starring George Clooney! It was brilliant, touching, sad, and (my favorite) sarcastically hilarious at just the right moments. But, this isn’t a movie review blog, it’s a men’s style blog, and thus, here is a similar blue and white polka-dotted tie seen throughout the film (polka dots aren’t just for girls with pigtails anymore; this is svelt and timeless):

J Crew Large Dot Tie in Navy on sale for $49.50

PS–I wouldn’t mind receiving the soundtrack to movie as a gift either! Whew.

ReStyle: Casual James Bond in the Office

Thursday, January 7th, 2010

“Overall, I am very satisfied with your services. I have been eagerly wearing my new attire to work with pride. The remarks have been overwhelmingly positive…I appreciate your recommendations [of clothing] , but more so guidance on fashion sense, fitting styles, and clothing maintenance.” –Minnesota Client

LKc’s newest client works an office job, but was hoping to look more professional than his regular khaki routine–especially for client meetings. At the same time, he didn’t want to look inappropriately dressed up in a full suit either. The best route: choose GREAT high quality black and/or gray pants, then pick button-down shirts, ties, sweaters and jackets that all color coordinate in the same color palate to get the most bang for your buck!

THIS RESTYLE WAS DONE ALL VIA E-MAIL!!!!!!! LKc CAN DO PERSONAL SHOPPING, CLOSET CONSULTATIONS AND MAKEOVER VIA WEBCAM AND E-MAIL–WE TAKE CLIENTS FROM ANYWHERE!!

I think The Boss will always be the boss. Even if you aren’t a multimillion dollar, decade-spanning rock star, you could still easily pull of this look (with or without a guitar). Think minimally, jeans+button down+vest:

Alfani Dress Shirt $24.99

Asos Religion Waistcoat $20.40

Apt 9 Straight Leg Jeans $24.99
