Boy Bands, Nick Carter and Girls Clothes

Monday, August 30th, 2010

From OMG.com via Larry Marano

A dear friend of LKc’s is still in love with the Backstreet Boys…and we love her for staying true to her heart. BsB member Nick Carter turned 30 this year whilst out on the BsB reunion tour…a great milestone and he looks pretty good and fit for his age. BUT, what’s the deal with these jeans? I think I took this same picture when I was in China a few years ago:

LKc can’t condone wearing of such women’s clothing on (older) men…at least when it’s not supposed to be on purpose (Eddie Izzard, you’re in the clear).

Lamar Odom Makes USA Men’s Basketball Team

Friday, August 27th, 2010

Via Dime Magazine

The Lakers big boy with an inconsistent past still makes the top-notch grade on the USA Men’s Basketball Team. Also, he’s married to a Kardashian, has his own signature fragrance on the way (along w/ his Rich Soil clothing line), and created a non-profit benefiting under-privileged children. Ahhhhhhh, the NBA life is a good one. But, if you’re super tall like Lamar where do you shop for clothes that fit? My guess is he gets all his red carpet and interview clothes custom made…but for the rest of us, here’s a more affordable option:

Esquire Magazine Explains How To Wear Corduroy

Monday, August 23rd, 2010

Esquire Magazine handed out a smidge of info on corduroy for this Fall. LKc finds corduroy to be worn best casually, but can sometimes be dressed up if done appropriately. The best things to take away are
1. the finer the ribs (called wales) the dressier the corduroy, and
2. a thin man can wear fatter ribs and a larger man should wear finer ribs–you wouldn’t want to look like a big corduroy clown, now would you? The corduroys featured in Esquire were $220…here are some much more affordable alternatives all under $50:

GAP Straight Fit Corduroy Pants $49.50 (We like “Shark”, but all the colors here are nice)

Mossimo Corduroy Pant $24.99

BDG Corduroy Pant in Navy $39

More Trenchcoats

Friday, August 20th, 2010

“$150 is a great deal for a coat – I’ll have to check out Topman for that. I prefer the darker colored trenches since tan is such a bold color. Works well in California or in the spring but for the fall I love a dark brown / dark grey / dark navy trench instead.”

Thanks JP for reading (We love Topman and they usually have free shipping on everything too)! If you are looking for a darker color in a trechcoat or jacket instead of the tan we had previously posted about, try some of these affordable options:

Topman Navy Laundered Trench Coat $120

GAP Long Classic Coat $88

Topman Black Cropped Trench Coat $120

“Switch” to a Fall Trenchcoat

Friday, August 20th, 2010

From IMBD.com

The Switch, starring the always tabloided Jennifer Aniston and always awkwardly adorable Jason Bateman, is coming in with mixed reviews all over the media front. Mostly this movie reminded us that Fall is coming up and that every respectable man should have a seasonally appropriate overcoat (oh yeah, and to not get involved with a mommy-crazed hot chick). Remember that a fall jacket is something that you could consider spending slightly more on than your everyday shirt–you will probably wear it several times a week or more and could likely own it for several years (hopefully more if you pick a look that doesn’t scream, “look at me, I am a jacket from the Fall 2010 Collection, oooohhhh, ahhhhh–eg, pick something classic and unique). Here’s a favorite at a reasonable cost:
