For the style photographer enthusiast, there’s a movie out now called Bill Cunningham New York–about Mr. Cunningham, a revolutionary photographer who’s snapped for New York Times and other top notch media for decades. He lives in an office studio with his bed on top of file cabinets…and he’s known to be one of fashion’s most beloved and perhaps sometimes feared photographers of all time. Guest Blog with Erica Ann Bader Weddings

Wednesday, March 30th, 2011

[from blog of Erica Ann Bader]

Thank you so much to Laura Knepper of LKc Style for being my first guest blogger! I photographed Laura a couple of weeks ago for her spread in the upcoming Portland Crave Guide. She has some awesome advice for men choosing their wedding attire…

Most of the time, guys take the backburner to wedding planning. Admittedly, it’s a lot of frilly details that likely don’t appeal to the male gender. But, if a guy has but one thing to do for their wedding it is often choosing suit and the groomsmen’s suits. This seems like more of a hassle than something to get excited over—going to a giant rental warehouse to pick out some random outfit with coordinating cummerbunds isn’t a cause to jump for joy.

But what if you could look good…really good? It’s one of the most important days in your whole life—you don’t even rent clothes for your everyday wear…so why on this most special day would you want to wear something someone else has already kissed their own bride in?

Consider picking out something a little more special—let your personality show through your suit. If your wedding is a more conservative one, consider ways to spice things up without going over the top—a colorful or special pocket square or a unique tie. If your wedding is less formal, try different colors or textures for your suits—brown or navy maybe; perhaps linen for a beach wedding? Take some time to think through how you want to look and then find separate pieces that all coordinate together instead of one rented monkey suit.

And if you’re still having trouble, you can always ask your blushing bride for her thoughts and help—no doubt she’ll have lots of vision for you. Or, of course, hire LKc Style to provide styling for you and all your groomsmen across the country! You can be confident you and your groomsmen pals will look great and confident if you take a little time to think about what YOU want!
