The Jim

They’ll even give you an opportunity to tell them your opinion, unabashed…which we know will be slammin: “We are a small company who knows what the men of today are looking for (besides love). In the real world, a man should be able to afford the tie he loves and not be forced to love the tie he can afford. The vision: affordable style for the initiated; attainable style to the beginner. This isn’t your grandfather’s haberdasher (unless he wants it to be). We’ve created limited runs of ties we want to wear and hope you will like ‘em too. Let us know what you think.”

Erron Jay on Neckwear and Steeze

Friday, June 3rd, 2011

Tell us who you are and what you do…in and out of work. Your passions.
My name is Erròn Jay  and I am an actor recently known for the AT&T Fly Errr Commercial that was all about style. I am also 1/2 of the group “Those Acoustic Kats” and we are spreading good music for the world to enjoy. More can be found @: https://www.erronjay.com

What got you poised for menswear innovation?
I grew up around fashion, my family owned a small clothing botique in Kansas City, MO for a number of years. But it wasn’t until I found my true identity sometime in my time in Chicago, IL. I am a bigger guy, but that was not going to hold me back from being innovative with my ever changing style.  Clothes don’t make the man, but they sure do help the man.

Why do you think neckwear is so important and give us some examples?
Neckwear is not needed at all times, but when an occasion calls for something more classy a tie or bow tie is the easiest way to get to where you need to be. And I think Life calls for us to be more classy more often times than not!

What gave you the idea of using neckties as bowties?! Tell us about another steezy innovative thing you’re doing with your clothes!
Bowties are awesome, but often times very expensive. I was looking at my necktie collection and thinking to my self there must be a way… It took some time and a lot of effort annnnd a lot of internet searches. Once I figured it out, I knew I had a beautiful addition to my wardrobe. Neckties turn in to beautiful bowties and are double the size of a regular bowtie once tied. The size also brings a great deal of attention to me and my entire outfit form both men and women alike.

What’s your favorite thing this year?
Favorite thing this year is the new trend of glasses actually. Some people need them so they are being more stylish. Some people have perfect vision but want to add a smarter look so they also take up wearing glasses.

What do you think is most important about menswear and why?
Good Jeans. Jeans don’t have to be expensive, but they have to be well made, and stylish, My favorite jeans are made by LRG ($70 bucks) and True Religions ($180 bucks). The best part about Jeans… you can wear them many times before washing them!

What do you splurge on and what items do you thrift and why?
I splurge on on Kicks! I love Shoes! My mom always told me to keep clean shoes that never look too worn. A woman can tell a lot about a man by the shoes he wears. I’m thrifti on clothing… a favorite web site of mine is PKLNDR.COM they have some great prices and there are many elcletic brand names on sale, and they change everyday! Where do you get your inspiration??
I am inspired by the world around me. I love seeing a plethora of styles and making a hybrid of observed styles. A lot of people tell me that I inspire them, and that motivates me to stay fresh, daper, and for a lock of better words Fly Errr

The (Best) Things in Life Are Free

Wednesday, January 26th, 2011

LKc Style is known for working with men in any budget–but even some people can’t afford a new shirt right now. So, we wanted to shout it out that there are places for you guys too! You can find professional clothing closets in your town that can provide free clothing—do a google search in your area for the Department of Human Services, a local community college, or a non-profit clothing closet. It’s not luxury…they are used clothes, but we found a shirt from Marios…there are some gems to be had. Check out what we just found at Steps for Success in Hillsboro and Portland–vintage knit ties and a bunch of suits and blazers that a tailor could nip for you:

Regis Retires, Tie Conventions, Dark Colors

Monday, January 24th, 2011

“Blue on blue. Black on black. Whatever it was, it made a fashion statement. All of a sudden, I was a guest speaker at the annual tie convention! One day, the executive producer, Michael Davies, said, ‘We can’t go with that look anymore. Every weatherman on television in every small town in America is dressing like you.’ ”
