Vest Alternatives

December 15, 2009 at 1:06 pm

It was made evident that the brown tweed vest in the GLEE Will Scheuster post might be out of budget for some loyal LKc readers. I will agree and disagree…and then lovingly give some alternatives to create the same look for even less. To agree, $90 for a vest (or most things) is expensive, period. To disagree, a nice tweed vest like that (unlike certain shirts or socks) should last you a lifetime and will be a classic, long-lasting look…so $90 over a lifetime seems a little less daunting. In any case, consider some less expensive sweater vests to create the same teacher-y look for less:

Ha, thanks Laura! If I were to find an extra $90 in my clothing budget, how often would it be appropriate to wear the same vest? Can it be worn with the frequency of a jacket or pair of shoes, or does it act more like a sweater/shirt?

  2. Chris–

You can wear a vest as much as a shirt or sweater…once or twice a week depending on your setting! You can get a lot of use out of vests and they don’t have to be laundered or dry cleaned nearly as much as regular shirts as well. Consider that some people have even made vests their “thing” and are seen wearing different ones almost every day of the week.

    Thanks for reading!
